“Natural” “Organic” “Aromatherapeutic” and “Botanical”………
These are
some of the most over-used descriptive words in the skincare industry today.
Yet
most of the products that boast these descriptors are also full of petroleum
by-products (methylparaben, mineral oil, propylene glycol) that clog the
skin’s pores and block botanicals from entering the skin.
They also contain strong solvent alcohols (SD and ethyl alcohol) that strip
the skin of its natural oils----which causes irritation and dry
skin-----which makes you want to use more and more lotion!
Then there are the synthetic fragrances that often cause allergic reactions
and negate any aromatherapeutic effects.
You
might also notice the added chemicals on the label----some with harmful
side-effects, like deet (a carcinogen) and triclosan (an
anti-biotic).
