HERE'S A TIP FOR COLD SORE SUFFERERS: 500 mg of L-Lysine (a supplement available at any drug store) taken twice daily will effectively arrest the progress of a cold sore. So start using L-Lysine at the first sign of a cold sore to lessen the duration time of the virus. We use Lemon Balm in our Sweet Melissa lip balm because this plant contains L-Lysine as well. In addition to the comfrey leaf in our lip balm, a zinc supplement will speed healing of the sore. A food source of zinc is pumpkin seeds. Cold sores are brought on by stress, so proper diet, sleep and RELAXATION are keys to avoiding outbreaks.
